A club football team is reborn in the village of Degagnac with the effort of about twenty local players for the 2026 season. More than just a club, the Degagnac Sports Union (U.S.D.) is a family legacy carried by those who aim to revive one of the village’s key components. At the outset, co-presidents Anthony Roques and Raphaël Senane-Reis assert that this club did not come out of nowhere: “Our grandfathers founded it in 1966. It started as a group of friends. Then our fathers also played here. We cherish this club.” This legacy resonates with their friends who are familiar with the same history. Out of the 30 senior players, at least 21 of them hail from Degagnac.
Located in a modest stadium embraced by a hill of stones serving as a natural tribune, the club was the sporting heart of the village. In November 2025, around twenty young individuals, driven by the idea of reviving a club that had been dormant since the Covid-19 pandemic, began the steps to reignite sixty years of family history. They are set to be back on the fields of Lot next year.
Revolving around memories of exhilarating final games at the stadium, Anthony Roques and the players aim to perpetuate the U.S.D.: “We want to recreate that atmosphere. I have two children, and I want them to experience the same as us, these are memories our generation won’t forget.” To achieve this, the club plans to establish multiple teams and keep its doors open to everyone. They intend to create a football school as there is a school in the village that unites three municipalities. They also aspire to revive the women’s team, integrate the leisure veteran group, and involve the community.
Supported directly by the local government and businesses like the village inn, the club is assisted in creating jerseys, managing the stadium, and organizing the community life.
The club is still in search of players and volunteers; those interested can contact them at contact.usdegagnac@gmail.com.
