As the end of the season approaches, several renowned teams from the top five European leagues are fighting to avoid relegation. A look at these clubs in great danger.
There is just over a month of competition left in the top five leagues and there is suspense at all levels. Whether it’s for the title, for the podium and European spots, or for avoiding relegation, the end of the season looks exciting in England, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany.
While some teams are experiencing the thrill of the European battle, others are playing with fear to avoid dropping to the second division. Among them are some prestigious clubs, not necessarily destined to fight for survival.
France: Nantes heading towards Ligue 2
Currently 17th in Ligue 1, FC Nantes has likely said goodbye to their chances of staying up by only managing a draw against Auxerre, who are 16th and in the playoff spot, last weekend. With 5 points behind Auxerre and five more matches remaining – including one against PSG, Vahid Halilhodzic’s men, who arrived in March to save Nantes, are inching closer to Ligue 2.
But the current form of the club is dire, with only one win in their last 11 matches. The upcoming match against Brest seems like a final chance for Nantes, given the tough schedule ahead until the end of the season.

England: Tottenham from Champions League to Championship
Last year, Tottenham had a paradoxical season, struggling in the Premier League yet performing well in the Europa League. However, this season, their Premier League form has deteriorated significantly, putting them in danger of relegation.
Tottenham is on a disastrous run of 14 matches without a win in the Premier League. With six matches remaining, they need to treat each game as a final to secure their Premier League status.

Germany: Wolfsburg fearful of relegation
Former Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg have been struggling this season, currently occupying the 17th spot. Their clash against Sankt Pauli in the final match of the season could be decisive, provided they break their run of 12 winless matches.
Dieter Hecking’s arrival in March has not reversed Wolfsburg’s poor form, with three consecutive losses. Avoiding relegation will be a tough task for the German club.

Spain: Sevilla to fight for survival
Sevilla, the most successful club in the history of the Europa League, is facing a tough season in La Liga. The Andalusian club is currently 16th, just two points above the relegation zone, and the battle for survival is far from over.
Despite a recent win over Atletico Madrid, Sevilla must continue fighting until the end of the season to avoid relegation for the first time since 2001.

Italy: Fiorentina almost safe
After a successful March, Fiorentina seems to have overcome their struggles this season. With a series of six unbeaten matches, they have created an 8-point cushion above the relegation zone and are on track to avoid relegation for the first time in 22 years.

These clubs are now gearing up for crucial matches as they battle to secure their places in the top divisions of their respective leagues.
