Sarah Pégouri, daughter of former flanker Pascal Pégouri from the Groupe Sportif Figeacois, has been called up to the French women’s U18 team for the Six Nations Tournament. It is her first experience wearing the blue jersey and it is both intense and memorable. She shares her journey.

In Figeac, some paths seem to be ingrained in the DNA of the region. Sarah Pégouri’s story perfectly illustrates this. Her father, Pascal, a former flanker for GSF, proudly represented Lot’s rugby and left a lasting impact before hanging up his boots a few years ago. Now, it is his daughter Sarah who is taking the reins and shining for the territory, all the way to the French team.

Selected to participate in the Women’s U18 Six Nations Tournament, the young Figeac native has reached a major milestone by stepping into the high level of competition. She describes the experience as incredible and emotional, especially singing the national anthem with her family in the stands during the games in England. These moments shared with her loved ones supporting her in England will be cherished forever.

On the field, Sarah has found her place in a highly competitive French team. Remaining loyal to her position as a third row forward, she has stood out for her combat skills: tackles, ball retrieval, presence in ruck zones. It is a role that is often discreet but essential for a team’s balance. She acknowledges the increased speed and intensity in the matches against Ireland, Italy, England, and Wales, recognizing the physical and technical demands of international competition.

Despite wearing the blue jersey, Sarah does not forget her roots in Lot. Her remarkable journey, following in the footsteps of her older sister Héloïse, showcases her rapid ascent in the rugby world. Trained at GSF, passing through the development center and then Blagnac, she embodies the success of a solid training program and constant hard work. Despite her quick rise, Sarah remains humble and focused on her goals of continuing to learn and progress, balancing her studies with high-level rugby.

Deeply connected to Figeac and her hometown club, Sarah sees her first experience representing the national team as a significant milestone but certainly not the end. Following in her father’s footsteps, she is now writing her own story. With her dedication and improvement, the adventure is surely just beginning.
