Familiar face of comedy, Sandrine Kiberlain has experienced dark days in her personal life. Indeed, the 58-year-old actress was shocked by the announcement of her sister Laurence’s illness: a cyst had lodged in her spinal cord. Despite being used to keeping a smile for her various roles, the ex-wife of Vincent Lindon has completely rearranged her life for the well-being of her sister.

To support Laurence in this ordeal, the actress and singer made a radical decision: to press pause to fully dedicate herself to her family. In 2023, she will turn down all projects to focus exclusively on her sister. In her book “Rédouquée” released on February 5th by Buchet-Chastel, Laurence Kiberlain notably reflects on her younger sister’s dedication to supporting her through this trial. A support worthy of the name for which she will be eternally grateful.

Sandrine Kiberlain stopped everything to dedicate herself to her sister Laurence During an interview with Gala, Laurence Kiberlain talked about the total dedication of her sister Sandrine. “We have always had a clear, beautiful relationship of total sincerity. What struck me was to see how she, like my husband, put her life on hold for me,” explains the younger sibling of the family.

“Everything was paused to come to the hospital, bring me food, change my ideas, help me walk when I couldn’t move alone. They were my crutches, literally,” affectionately confides Sandrine Kiberlain’s sister.

Invited on the set of “C à vous” on March 18th, the actress explained her choice: “It’s common to become the crutch for your sister when she has a health problem. I think in families, siblings, it’s common, well, I hope. It’s the least we can do and it’s normal: we can no longer live normally. We didn’t have the same life,” affirmed Sandrine Kiberlain before adding according to Gala: “Our life really became that. But I wasn’t the only crutch. We were basically bumpers, the boat was really well-equipped to cushion the shocks.” Sweet words that testify to the unbreakable bond between the two sisters.

“The greatest sadness of my life”: the loss of her son, Laurence Kiberlain’s tragedy In Gala magazine, Laurence Kiberlain especially talked about the greatest tragedy of her life: the loss of her son, who was only 10 days old. “The death of my little boy is probably the greatest sadness of my life. But I was fortunate to have my daughter, his twin sister, (with a motor disability) who required all my energy,” she explains.

A close daughter who supported her in turn during the illness: “Perhaps the most troubling thing was to find myself in a universe that I mainly knew through her. All of a sudden, she is the one who comes to see me in this setting that I had often helped her navigate. When she arrived, she was worried about me but also very generous in words, time, and help,” confides Laurence Kiberlain. A precious support for this mother who gave her the strength to fight.
