Football – City suffers a setback
While Manchester City’s victory over Arsenal two weeks ago (2-1) seemed to seal their inexorable return to the title, after trailing the Gunners by up to nine points in March, they are now losing control of their destiny again by drawing with Everton (3-3). They only managed to equalize in the 97th minute with a splendid double by Jérémie Doku. Arsenal now regains a five-point lead (and one match) with three days to go.
Table Tennis – Team France strolls to victory
No problem for the French team against the United States in the World Team Championships round of 16: Flavien Coton, Félix Lebrun, and Simon Gauzy strolled to victory (especially the last two) and will face either Portugal or Egypt in the round of 16 on Wednesday, with the two nations competing on Monday for their direct confrontation.
Tennis – Bonzi, Gaston, Van Assche, and Parry already out in Rome
With the Madrid Masters 1000 barely finished, the focus shifts to Rome with the ongoing qualifications. Among the boys, Titouan Droguet is the only Frenchman to advance to the second round (out of two), while Benjamin Bonzi – the only one to take a set from Jannik Sinner in Madrid – Hugo Gaston, and Luca Van Assche disappoint. On the women’s side, Leolia Jeanjean won the French clash against Diane Parry, who was eliminated along with Oceane Dodin.
Cycling – Ferrand-Prévot bides her time
Marianne Vos could not start the second stage of the Vuelta, suffering a clavicle fracture the day before, while red jersey Noemi Rüegg also had to abandon due to a fall. French cyclist Evita Muzic finished third in the stage and remains well-placed overall, along with Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in 18th for the stage (and 11th overall, only sixteen seconds behind the leaders).
Biathlon – Team France prepares for next season
As spring blooms, the French team lineups have been announced for the upcoming season. Gaetan Paturel joins Eric Perrot, Quentin Fillon Maillet, Emilien Jacquelin, Oscar Lombardot, and the Claude brothers (Fabien and Emilien). No changes for the women’s team, with Lou Jeanmonnot, Julia Simon, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Ocèane Michelon, Camille Bened, and Jeanne Richard.
