On the weekend of May 1st, Aniane offered various activities such as antique markets, shepherd’s trail, and Izi Sunday. On Sunday, May 3rd, the rustic setting of the Jardin Saint-Rome hosted the first Izi Sunday event where three musical groups (Ukulélé club, Balu et Borumba, and Bois Vert) fought the grayness of the day. A mural, solidarity thrift store, and games were offered during this day dedicated to solidarity, with the proceeds from the bar being donated to the local chapter of the Secours populaire in Saint-André-de-Sangonis. “We cover several towns, including Aniane,” said volunteers Célia and Claire. In total, the Secours populaire assists households in 13 municipalities in the Hérault Valley and Saint-Félix-de-Lodez (Clermontais community of municipalities). The support center for solidarity and health (Pass) is open three times a week in Saint-André. “We welcome many single-parent families, people who cannot work full-time,” said Célia and Claire. With its goal of combining culture and solidarity, Izi Sunday will return on Sundays, May 17th and 31st.
