For April 1, PUBG is shaking up its habits with the arrival of the famous Prop Hunt mode. No more classic battle royale, make way for a huge game of hide-and-seek where players transform into objects in the scenery to escape ruthless hunters.
The great return of virtual hide and seek

Known by many video game enthusiasts, popularized at the time by Garry’s Mod (which will get a spiritual sequel with s&box), the concept of the Prop Hunt divides the participants into two very distinct camps. On the one hand, hunters must track down and eliminate their targets. On the other hand, prey have the unique ability to transform into decorative elements to blend into the environment. In this version adapted to the KRAFTON battle royale, twelve participants compete in sessions divided into three roundspitting three trackers against nine camouflaged targets.
Prey are not completely defenseless against their armed attackers. To maximize their chances of survival, hidden players have an arsenal of tactical tools at their disposal. They can notably deploy decoys to deceive enemy vigilance, modify their appearance during the game, or even use blinding and stun grenades. These capabilities make it possible to create incredible escape situations when cover is compromised.
A fatal penalty for careless hunters
The real innovation of this edition lies in the management of shots for trackers. Unlike traditional versions where players empty their magazines on every suspicious pottery or chair, this iteration imposes a major constraint. Each stray bullet that hits an ordinary object reduces the shooter’s life points.

This mechanic radically transforms the approach of hunters, who must exercise observation and restraint rather than shooting blindly. However, the end of each round is marked by a temporary acceleration phase called “Fever Time”. During this short period, trackers benefit from increased firepower and no longer suffer any penalties for missed shotsforcing targets to be extra careful.
Un événement à durée très limitée
To accompany this festive launch, the development teams imagined an original communication campaign, parodying traditional teleshopping shows. This initiative underlines the studio’s desire to offer an offbeat experience, contrasting with the usual seriousness of competitive confrontations.
This new game mode is now accessible via the Arcade section of the main menu. The clashes take place on several iconic maps of the title, including Rondo, Vikendi and Miramar. Players wanting to test their hiding or tracking skills will have to act quickly, because the event will close its doors for good on April 8.
