Marine Le Pen denounces investigation into media training for 2022 campaign
The leader of RN deputies Marine Le Pen denounced on Friday, May 8, the initiation of a European prosecutor’s investigation into media training programs aimed at the 2022 presidential campaign, seeing it as a “scheme” to “smear” RN president Jordan Bardella. These investigations by the European prosecutor follow an article in Le Canard Enchaîné, followed by a complaint filed against an unknown person in early December by the AC!! Anti-Corruption association, addressed to the National Financial Prosecutor (PNF) in Paris.
The media training programs, funded by European funds, were allegedly used to prepare Marine Le Pen’s electoral campaign for the 2022 presidential election. Denouncing “excesses and insults” that she believes show the “radicalism” of AC! Anti-Corruption, Marine Le Pen stated that the investigations conducted by the European prosecutor were “perfectly natural”.
She assured that her party was “at the disposal of the prosecutor to provide all the evidence to demonstrate that this is all a vast maneuver to tarnish the National Rally and specifically Jordan Bardella.” She added, “Maybe, given his popularity,” as the RN president leads in all polls for the 2027 presidential election.
According to the far-right leader, the aim of the association that filed the complaint is to echo the case of parliamentary assistants of FN (now RN) MEPs, in which the Paris Court of Appeals will decide on July 7 whether Marine Le Pen will be ineligible for the next presidential election.
“The association itself has said (…) that in reality, its objective is to put pressure on the deliberation currently underway before the Court of Appeals,” said Marine Le Pen.
