The Apollo cinema now hosts, in addition to the latest released films, a specific program designed by the members of the new film lovers association “Cinémotions81”. Since April 1, volunteers have been offering a cycle, a festival, a theme of their choice every month.

The sequence opens with a Brontë cycle, in partnership with the J’MLire association. In the Brontë family, in the 19th century, there were three sisters, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne, who left a mark on literature with their gothic, tough, and cruel novels: Jane Eyre for Charlotte, Wuthering Heights by Emily, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne. Their short lives have inspired numerous biographies, including some in cinema.

The film “The Brontë Sisters” by André Téchiné, starring Isabelle Adjani, Marie-France Pisier, and Isabelle Huppert, will be screened this Sunday, April 5th at 2 p.m. Then, the feature film “Emily”, directed by Frances O’Connor, will be shown in the original version with subtitles on Wednesday, April 8th at 6 p.m. Following that, the unmissable “Wuthering Heights” by Andrea Arnold will be screened on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6 p.m. in French. Lastly, the 2026 version of “Wuthering Heights” is scheduled for Friday, April 24th at 6 p.m, followed by a discussion with J’MLire and a friendly evening at the Apollo bar.

Membership in the association is €10 per year, €20 per family, offering a rate of €5 per session for members, compared to €7 for non-members.

For Damien Cathala, the cinema’s manager, this moment is important. He explained: “The new film lovers’ association is launched. The board, composed of 12 to 15 people, is chaired by Danièle Gourc. Our theaters will serve as a platform for an activity open to all, aiming to create social connections and encourage exchanges around our screenings. On this occasion, the Apollo bar will be reopened for a comfortable discussion corner.”
