The Professional Football League’s (LFP) disciplinary commission announced on Sunday, May 10, the opening of an “investigation” after the interruption in stoppage time of the decisive match of the last day of Ligue 2 between Bastia and Le Mans at the Furiani stadium on Saturday, due to smoke bombs.

“Meeting on Sunday, May 10, the LFP disciplinary commission decided to open an investigation into the incidents related to the SC Bastia – Le Mans FC match on the 34th matchday of Ligue 2,” the League said in a statement.

The LFP specified that “due to the urgency and in order to ensure the smooth running of the competitions (…), the disciplinary commission will decide on this case at its meeting on Wednesday, May 13.”

While Le Mans was leading 2-0, a result that secured their promotion to Ligue 1 and relegated Bastia, smoke bombs were thrown in the 91st minute, just after Le Mans’ second goal. The referee then decided to stop the match which never resumed.
