The sports tag: Rasta Vechta achieves what no one thought possible

After the impressive comeback with 10 wins in the last 13 games, the basketball team from Rasta Vechta is heading to the Play-In match against the Gladiators Trier. “I believe that we have a chance in every game, especially at home with our fans in the Rasta Dome,” said coach Christian Held before the match between the seventh and eighth in the table on Tuesday (8:30 PM).
During the international break at the end of February, the coach managed to readjust his team and turn them from a relegation candidate into a playoff contender. If the team from Lower Saxony wins against Trier, they will make it to the playoffs and face Alba Berlin in the quarterfinals. If they lose, they will have another chance against the winner of the Rostock vs. Ludwigsburg match on Thursday. In case of success, they would face Bayern Munich in the first round of the playoffs.
“Considering where we were in February, this seventh place is incredible,” said Held. “We made some changes back then. It’s impressive what the team has achieved since then.” Therefore, Vechta approaches the match against Trier with confidence. “I think every team now respects us,” said club boss Stefan Niemeyer.
