2026 is shaping up to be a dry year for GPU launches, especially with Nvidia’s rumored GeForce RTX 50 Super being pushed back to 2027. All we might get from Team Green is an RTX 5050 with 9GB VRAM and a GeForce RTX revival 3060, two generations old (yes, seriously). On AMD’s side, things aren’t very happy either. Videocardz has learned of the existence of a new RDNA 4 GPU: the Radeon RX 9050.

Based on its designation, one might think that it is a weaker version of the Radeon RX 9060. This statement is only partially true, because the RX 9050 is equipped with 2,048 shading units, which corresponds to approximately 32 CU, the same as the Radeon RX 9060 XT. Other specifications include 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM at 18 Gbps on a 128-bit bus (288 GB/s of memory bandwidth), and a boost clock of 2.6 GHz.

It remains to be seen how the RX 9050 will perform in reality compared to the RX 9060. On paper, the latter should have an advantage thanks to higher clocks. The main differentiator, at first glance, will be the TGP, and it’s unclear how much power the RX 9050 will demand, but Videocardz estimates it could be lower than the RX 9060.

Overall, the above specifications seem a bit out of place, and it’s best to wait until more information emerges. As for the market segment the RX 9050 is targeting, its name implies that it’s an alternative to the RTX 5050. The higher memory bandwidth should give it an advantage over Nvidia’s entry-level offering, at least when it comes to raw performance. On the software level, it will be a question of seeing if the FSR stands up to DLSS.
