Three months after the death of the actor from Dawson, his widow took over his Instagram account to pay tribute to him and document her mourning, a path she intends to continue to share with all those who have supported her.
A long and winding road. Three months after the passing of James Van Der Beek from colorectal cancer, his widow Kimberly van der Beek has spoken out on her Instagram account to pay a new tribute to her late husband. But above all, to speak candidly and openly about the reality of grief she has been going through since his passing, with ups and downs. “Yesterday, it was three months since we lost James,” she began. Saying that my heart is broken is an understatement. Words simply do not suffice to explain what grief is.
“The shock has passed, reality sets in… and I miss him. We miss him all,” she added, under the carousel of unpublished photos of the actor surrounded by his children, sleeping next to one of his babies, on a boat ride, or fully engaged in archery. Memories of another life, to never forget this sweet reality that now belongs to the past.
“If mourning remains painful, the widow of James Van Der Beek nevertheless hints at a note of hope. “There is a different kind of magic in the air. I feel it. I know it more deeply,” she writes, speaking of her husband. My conscious connection to God has deepened. The veils of the universe have thinned. And I trust that this is the path that my family and I have always been destined to follow.”

Indeed, the day after his passing on February 11, Kimberly Van Der Beek launched a fundraiser on Go Fund Me. “Throughout his illness, the family had to face not only emotional difficulties, but also significant financial constraints, as she did everything possible to support James and provide the necessary care,” can still be read on the online fundraiser page. “James’s medical expenses and the long battle against cancer depleted the family’s financial resources.” Since then, over 2.8 million dollars have been raised.
“The outpouring of support has been immense,” praises the mother of six children. “It has supported our family in the most beautiful way possible. You have surpassed everything I could have expected in supporting us and honoring James. I am deeply grateful. There is so much more to share here. And in time – I will do so.”
