The actress trained at Annie Fratellini’s circus school, clown option, was made famous by her voice. Specializing in dubbing, this Parisian from the periphery has put her particular vocal range at the service of Son Goku, protagonist of the cult anime “Dragon Ball”. A feat of arms which has earned it the invitation, for more than twenty years, to all of France’s trade fairs and specialized conventions, from the Japan Expo in Paris to Bordeaux GeekFest and its big sister Animasia.
From Nicolas à Son Goku
Only Son Goku? Brigitte Lecordier laughs frankly. Nicolas. Pimprenelle was a jouée par with Barbara Tissier, she remembered. La première voix de Nounours était Henri Virlojeux… »
The memory remains vivid. “I worked at the Cirque de Barbarie, an exclusively female circus. As I was small and funny, they came to pick me up to play children in the theater. I was playing Louison in ‘‘The Imaginary Malady”, when I was called to do dubbing, again little girls as well as little boys. All children on duty!”
A loyal community
Brigitte Lecordier’s journey is thus made. A dream of the circus, a youth as a clown, the call of the stage, a notoriety acquired by his ability to embody a character through his voice alone. And the desire to touch everything. However, she never imagined becoming such a center of attention. The notoriety of the adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s manga, broadcast in France from 1988, a new hit from Club Dorothée, made her a superstar in the geek community. “You never know what career you’re going to have,” she smiles. It’s great to live forty years later with so much gratitude. Especially when it comes from the public.”
The public came in large numbers, sometimes very early in the morning, to get a signing from their favorite comic book author. The 18th edition of BD & Vin welcomes around fifty artists from all backgrounds. Ph. B. / SO
This is not without a certain emotion. “All these people who tell me they grew up with my voice!” A sometimes very strong bond. Like with this young woman, who fled the war in Yugoslavia with her mother. “She didn’t speak a word of French when she arrived. She learned to speak it from a tape of ‘‘Dragon Ball’. With my voice!” Which was not without some pitfalls. “She thought ‘‘Magic Cloud’ meant hello! No one answered him.”
Passwords by Bibi
Comics are an extension of this creative profusion. “I had a text, in the form of a novel, never published. I wrote it so as not to forget. I had to tell this story. Otherwise I was going to hide certain things and become too nice. » The story of a childhood in the zone with strict parents. A story that gives voice to the child she was. “I wanted it to be Bibi who spoke. With his words, his look, sometimes acidic. Let it not be an adult who speaks in the words of a child.” She does not blacken everything but does not elude anything. A child’s gaze that blurs the indescribable without obscuring it. “Reality is enormous” (ed. Dupuis, 20 euros) has been available since April 24 in bookstores.
