Vibrant colors and a whimsical imaginary made up of eggs, hens, chicks, and giant rabbits adorning the Place de la République in Barcarès: it is in this fabulous setting, reminiscent of something Walt Disney would not disown, that the enchanting park of the first Z’Oeufforiques opened for a month on Saturday, April 4, 2026 (free entry). Big success.
Angelica, 8, and her “big” brother Felix, 10, widen their eyes like saucers! Holding hands with their parents, Pol and Marta, these little Géronaans are fascinated by the show and colorful decorations that greet visitors at the entrance to Place de la République in Barcarès. “We regularly come every winter to the Christmas Village, and the children love it! They always want to leave with a stuffed animal. So, we thought we would discover Barcarès in the spring this time… And here we are at the Z’Oeufforiques. And we do not regret it!” confesses the smiling parents in perfect French.
It must be admitted that this “spring event” started under the best auspices: 26 degrees in the sun, not a breath of air, and on the horizon a vast, deep blue sea. On April 4, giant rabbits, hens, eggs, and lampshade-shaped mushrooms, sofas, couches, all made of ceramic in solid, multicolored tones, decorated with dots, stripes, floral motifs—this decor that heavily references childhood, seemingly inspired by the film “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” the animated film “Alice in Wonderland,” and illustrated albums that we sometimes leaf through. Our childhood is solicited at every step.
Thus, Ludovic and Géraldine, young parents from Perpignan with their 4-year-old Camille, say they are “amazed by the giant eggs,” and the dad compares them to… Fabergé eggs! Camille, she, wants to touch everything, especially the fake chicks. A little further on, people take pictures seated in the egg-chair made of faux chocolate or under the egg-shaped arches and gates, beautiful like giant toys.
A month of animations, games, and laughter
Throughout this festive and joyful month, animations and shows will follow one another until May 3, the closing date of this enchanting park. On the program until May: giant omelette and the inevitable egg hunt (Sunday, April 5), markets and stands, flower battles (spreading real colors all around), children’s workshops, eco-friendly fun show, concerts, spring-summer fashion shows, brass band, giant wooden games, and the “Grandeur Nature” parade with the Cielo Company.
An animation not to be missed is the Z’Oeufs Lympiades on Sunday, April 12, with agility, reflection, and coordination challenges for both young and old. And, of course, chocolate rewards at the end!
