In Saint-Denis (93), on former market gardening land on the outskirts of Paris, Zone Sensible reinvents the urban farm into a poetic laboratory. Created by the Parti Poétique collective, this farm like no other combines permaculture agriculture, contemporary art exhibitions and workshops for young and old.
Installée à Saint-Denis (93), giving la dernière ferme maraîchère du 19e siècle still in operation on the outskirts of Paris, Zone Sensible is a vast experimental garden where more 250 espèces végétales crops and permaculture.
Imagined by the artistic collective Parti Poétique, this unique site of its kind has transformed this former agricultural operation into a real art and food production center. Here, nature is never separated from culture: vegetables coexist with art installationsthe hives communicate with performancesand the paths of vegetable garden become spaces ofopen air exhibition.
Zone Sensible is part of a strong history: that of ancient market gardens of the Plaine des Vertusonce nourishing for all of Paris, today largely urbanized. Based on this agricultural heritage, the place reinvents a new way of thinking about the city, more sustainable, more collective and more vibrant.
Throughout the seasons, the site offers guided visitsof the workshopsof the résidences d’artistesbut also cultural events ranging from open-air cinema to concertspassing through banquets and workshops around sustainable food.
The visit places allows you to explore an astonishing landscape, between permaculture gardens, urban apiary, experimental greenhouses and outdoor artistic spaces. The mediators of the place tell how this is organized “open-air laboratoryâ€where agriculture, contemporary creation and ecological commitment intersect.
Sensitive Zone is also a place deeply focused on its territory, with solidarity actions, food distributions and educational projects which involve residents, associations and schools in the area.
