AT 08:00PM ON GULF COAST, NBC AND AGAIN, YOU MAY AND THEN HERE FOR DECADES. BUT THE REFRESHER ALWAYS HELPFUL AS WE START HURRICANE SEASON NEXT WEEK, RIGHT, LAURA? YEAH, FAST APPROACHING AND THERE’S A LOT OF INFORMATION THAT SPECIALLY EVEN SOME NEW TOOLS YOU MIGHT NOT BE AWARE OF HEADING INTO THIS SEASON. >> BUT LETS SHOW YOU WHAT THE ATLANTIC BASIN LOOKS LIKE AS YOU GET YOUR MORNING STARTED. NICE AND QUIET. STILL, THERE ARE NO AREAS OF INTEREST AND NO TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT STILL EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 7 DAYS. SO QUIET CONDITIONS AS WE HEAD INTO THE OFFICIAL START OF HURRICANE SEASON NEXT WEEK. THE FIRST NAME ON THE LIST WILL BE ARTHUR AND WE’LL CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU UPDATED. BRING IT BACK CLOSER TO WE ARE STILL DEALING WITH THAT DRIER AIR IN THE MID TO UPPER LEVELS. SO SCATTERED STORMS TODAY. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS HEADING INTO TOMORROW. YOU CAN SEE MORE AND MORE OF THAT DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE BUILDING BACK ACROSS THE GULF COAST. BY THE WAY, THIS STICKS AROUND THROUGH THE REST OF THE WEEK. SO THIS IS JUST GOING TO BRING US MORE AVAILABLE MOISTURE TO WORK WITH. SO HEADING INTO TOMORROW, SLIGHT INCREASE IN THE AFTERNOON STORM COVERAGE. BUT IN THE MEANTIME, TODAY IT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT HIGHER COVERAGE THAN YESTERDAY, BUT JUST SCATTERED STORMS. SO THERE WILL STILL BE MANY COMMUNITIES THAT STAY DRY. NO RAIN TO START OFF THIS MORNING. AND WE’RE STARTING OFF IN THE 70’S, REALLY BEAUTIFUL CONDITIONS FOR THE 1ST HALF OF THE DAY. AND THEN WE’RE HEADING TO THE HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY ALL OVER AGAIN. COUPLE OF SHOWERS AROUND 2 O’CLOCK. AND WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN TODAY? OUR WINDS STARTING TO SHIFT. SO INSTEAD OF MORE OF THAT EAST WIND THAT’S BEEN DRIVING THE STORMS TOWARD THE COAST. MORE OF A SOUTHERLY FLOW TODAY. SO THAT IS GOING TO STILL TRIGGER SOME SCATTERED STORMS. BUT DRIVING THOSE STORMS MORE NORTH. SO MANY SPOTS MISSING OUT ON RAIN HEADING INTO TOMORROW. WE’RE LOOKING AT MAINLY INLAND, FOCUSED RAIN BUT HIGHER COVERAGE. 70%. AND THAT’S WHY TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE TAKING A LITTLE BIT OF A BACK SEAT FOR A COUPLE OF AFTERNOONS RUNNING CLOSER TO SEASONAL. WE WILL BE IN THE UPPER 80’S TO LOW 90’S AND IT IS STILL RINSE AND REPEAT WITH MANY AFTERNOONS, AT LEAST FAVORED TO SEE STORMS FOR SOME COMMUNITIES COMING OUT OF YESTERDAY’S STORMS. AND INTERESTING DOWNBURST REPORT OUT OF THE GORDA AIRPORT. WE SAW A WIND GUST. LOOK AT THIS 70 MILES PER HOUR COMING OUT OF CHARLOTTE COUNTY. REMEMBER TO UNDERESTIMATE SOME OF THESE RAINY SEASON STORMS NOW DOWNBURST HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE THAT HEAVY RAIN THAT SENDS AIR RAPIDLY TO THE GROUND. WE DIDN’T SEE THIS YESTERDAY, BUT SOMETIMES THOSE WIND SPEEDS CAN EVEN 60 100 MILES PER HOUR. FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO DAMAGE REPORTS COMING OUT OF GORDA. THE DAMAGE SOMETIMES WITH THESE DOWN BURR’S CAN BE SIMILAR TO AN EF 0 OR EF ONE TORNADO. SO AS ALWAYS, ESPECIALLY DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE RAINY SEASON. MAKE SURE YOU’RE VERY AWARE. WE KNOW SOME OF THESE STORMS CAN PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT THREATS TODAY AND TOMORROW WE’RE LOOKING AT MAINLY THE STORMS HOLDING OFF UNTIL THE AFTERNOON. BUT THEN TOMORROW, LOOK AT THE COVERAGE. THIS IS LATE INTO THE EVENINGS, MAINLY LABELLE CLEWISTON PALMDALE. FINALLY INLAND COMMUNITIES FAVORE
