The Mechanics of Public Extraction Sites
The standard way to secure your companions is by navigating the massive public pads permanently marked on the map. These terminals offer a guaranteed exit for your items, but they force you to play defense against the entire lobby.
Surviving the Dinner Bell Charging Phase
You cannot just drop from the battle bus and immediately bank a lucky find. Public Extraction Sites stay completely locked down during the early game and only activate after the very first storm circle finishes closing. Once the terminal goes live, you have to walk up to the main control panel and manually initiate the sequence to call in a drop crate.
This is the exact moment things tend to fall apart. Activating the terminal forces the site to undergo a loud charging sequence that takes a few moments to complete. This process alerts every single nearby player to your exact coordinate. You are essentially ringing a giant dinner bell for greedy squads who want to clean up an easy kill. Throwing down immediate defensive builds or pocket bunkers is mandatory if you want to survive the wait.
Depositing Your Cargo Under Pressure
The second the charging sequence hits 100 percent, an Extraction Crate drops onto the platform. You have to sprint straight to the container and interact with it to physically deposit your secured companions inside.
Do not get distracted by managing your weapons during this window. The crate only stays open for a very brief duration before it automatically seals itself shut and exits the match. Once the animation finishes, your items are safely logged into your profile and the game rewards you with a payout of raw Sprite Dust. Unlocking the Portable Extractor Shortcut
If you happen to stumble across an incredibly rare drop, dragging it to a highly contested public pad is an excellent way to get sent straight back to the lobby. You need a pocket option to protect your high tier investments.
The Five Second Emergency Teleport
Portable Extractors are rare utility items that bypass the fixed map terminals entirely. When you have one in your inventory, you can hold down your change weapon prompt to equip the device directly into your pickaxe slot. From there, holding down your primary fire button triggers a brief five second countdown.
If you can avoid getting shot during those five seconds, your currently equipped companion gets teleported straight to the safety of the lobby. These items stack in your inventory and are completely exclusive to your account. You cannot drop them for teammates, and you will not lose them if a squad wipes you out before you can trigger the deploy sequence.
How to Purchase and Earn Portable Extractors
Because these devices remove almost all the risk from the companion loop, you cannot just find them sitting on standard floor tables. You have to earn them through dedicated gameplay milestones or purchase them directly with your saved currency.
