Among the exhibitors expected this year is Barber’s & Ride, a hairdressing salon and barbershop located in Anglet. A choice which illustrates an often overlooked facet of the biker world: the importance given to style and appearance.

Every year, Wheels and Waves attracts tens of thousands of visitors from all over Europe and beyond. The event celebrates motorcycles as much as the art of living that goes with them. In the alleys of the village, visitors come across motorcycle preparers as well as artists, tattoo artists, designers and craftsmen.

At the Wheels and Waves festival in Biarritz, Guillaume Farré leaves his tire track

Combining arts, beautiful mechanics and surfing, the Wheels and Waves festival, from June 10 to 14, exhibits a visual artist from Biarritz who paints with… his car, a Ferrari Dino. Discover it at Artride XI, at the Biarritz skatepark, from June 11, 5:30 p.m.

Motorcycles and the art of living

This 2026 edition will once again allow you to discover exceptional motorcycles, attend emblematic competitions and enjoy a rich cultural program. The village will be open throughout the duration of the festival and will host numerous activities.

In Anglet, Clément and Elisa opened Barber’s & Ride a little over a year ago. Both bikers, they imagined a place that goes beyond the simple framework of the hair salon. Their establishment also welcomes a tattoo artist and a nail artist (nail prosthetist) in an atmosphere inspired by rock, custom and artisanal worlds.

“We wanted to open a shop in our image,” explains Elisa. A space designed as a living space where several artistic professions come together.

This year, the couple will participate in the festival for the first time. A presence which represents both a professional showcase and the opportunity to take part in an event with which they fully identify. “This is really what we see in our own universe,” she emphasizes.

A claimed identity

If the passion for motorcycling rests above all on the machine and the road, appearance occupies an important place in this universe. Trimmed beards, neat haircuts, tattoos and clothing inspired by the 1970s and 1980s contribute to an identity claimed by many enthusiasts.

“The two go well together,” notes Clément about the link between the barber business and the world of motorcycles. Part of its clientele is precisely looking for this “old school” spirit which characterizes the custom aesthetic.

“People are paying more and more attention to their appearance, especially men who take more care of themselves,” he observes.

During the five days of the festival, Barber’s & Ride will install two chairs in the village. Visitors will be able to have their hair cut or beard trimmed between two exhibitions and a motorbike ride. An original way of reminding us that, in Wheels and Waves culture, style is often as much a part of the journey as the machine itself.
