Girona secured a victory against Villarreal on Monday evening. A own goal from Pau Navarro gave the Catalans the three points, but Vanat and Blind suffered injuries during the match.
The match between Girona and Villarreal, held at Montilivi on Monday evening for the 30th round of La Liga, ended in a win for the home team (1-0). The “Blanquivermells” delivered a very complete performance to defeat the third-placed team in the Spanish championship.
Michel’s men had an excellent first half, putting high pressure to unsettle the Yellow Submarine. They ventured into the opponent’s area several times, but without much success. Finally, towards the end of the first half, Girona took the lead thanks to a own goal by Villarreal’s central defender Pau Navarro (45’+1).
Despite a slightly slow start to the second half, the Catalans gradually took control of the game, creating new dangerous chances that could have widened the gap in the score.
While Girona FC took home the three points, they also faced two setbacks with the injuries of Vanat and Blind.
