Among moving homages, world-renowned virtuosos, and baroque discoveries, this year places the transmission and popular roots at the heart of its programming.
Isolated on its peninsula between sea and lagoon, the cathedral of Maguelone is once again preparing to become the setting for a timeless dialogue. For this 43rd edition, the festival has chosen a strong theme: “Resonances”. The goal? To explore the invisible yet powerful link that unites classical music with popular traditions.
According to Philippe Leclant, Founder and President of Muses en Dialogue, this longevity is not by chance:
“This festival was founded on a simple conviction: ancient music must remain a living and shared experience in a place steeped in history.”
A vibrant tribute and long-awaited reunions This edition takes on a particular dimension. It is dedicated to the memory of Denis Raisin Dadre, founder of the ensemble Doulce Mèmoire and a faithful companion of the festival. His legacy will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6, with a program entitled “Musique de Joye,” an ode to the festive and French Renaissance dance.
The festival can also count on its historical patron, the immense Jordi Savall. For the closing concert on June 12, he will lead his ensemble Hespèrion XXI in an exploration of the art of variation, weaving musical bridges between Europe and the New World.
From emergence to family transmission While the big names are present, the festival also looks towards the future:
– Youth in the spotlight: On Sunday, June 7, the ensemble Theodora will take the stage to showcase the influence of French style in German courts.
– A rendezvous for the little ones: A new addition this year, a collaboration with Théâtre Jérôme Savary allows for a family show, “Le Rossignol et l’Empereur” by the ensemble La Rêveuse (Tuesday, June 9), blending shadow theater and ancient instruments.
