Elie Semoun became a father for the second time at 61, and he seems to have found a new balance with Aude Fraineau, with whom he welcomed a baby boy a few months ago. Before that, the comedian had a different life: he was married to Annie Florence Jeannesson, with whom he had his first child, Antoine, born in 1995.
In a podcast interview on La Fame, Elie Semoun discussed his divorce and how his fame played a role in the separation. “It’s very hard to start from the bottom, unknown, and become very well known, not all at once but almost, while balancing a couple’s life,” he said.
Elie Semoun revealed that success fundamentally changed his relationships with others, especially women. “You’re in seduction mode, so it inevitably creates problems in the relationship because girls look at you differently,” he explained. This new situation gradually weakened his marriage.
The comedian also realized the impact of his fame during his travels abroad. “It was funny because when I was shooting in New York, I saw my true value as a guy: it was zero. I got divorced around 37/38 years old and it doesn’t surprise me because I needed to experience my celebrity lifestyle alone,” he added.
With celebrity status, relationships with women “move much faster.” Elie Semoun acknowledged that being known is part of his charm. He also mentioned the tensions this fame could create in his subsequent relationships. “Getting stopped in the street is annoying for girlfriends, especially since I later got involved with an artist, a dancer at the Opera de Paris, who needed to be in the spotlight. But people were completely indifferent to her beauty. It was complicated,” he shared.
For him, the divorce was a period of “shit.” But his main concern was the well-being of his son Antoine, who has Asperger’s syndrome and was 7 years old at the time. “My fear was to disturb him completely. At the time, I was with someone Antoine didn’t like. It was quite violent,” he confessed in a previous interview.
