The event, which has become essential for discovering the richness and diversity of parks and gardens, aims to highlight the art of gardens and landscape heritage, raise awareness about garden preservation, and pass on the skills related to their enhancement and maintenance.

The Ministry of Culture invites the public to more than 2,800 parks and gardens across France and Europe. During these three days, gardens open their doors, sometimes exceptionally, and organize numerous activities such as educational workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, conferences, and performances.

“Celebrating the richness of gardens”

“Rendez-vous aux jardins” brings together garden actors each year with the common goal of discovering and sharing the living heritage of gardens. The “Remarkable Garden” label distinguishes gardens and parks that have a cultural, aesthetic, historical, or botanical interest, whether they are public or private.

Amateurs and professionals (gardeners, owners, landscapers, botanists, etc.) will be mobilized to interact with different audiences and share their passion for gardens and their expertise.

The day of Friday, June 5, is dedicated to school groups to familiarize young people with the art of gardens through educational and playful activities.

This cultural and festive event aims to highlight the various actions of the Ministry in favor of the study, conservation, restoration, maintenance, creation of gardens, and the transmission of knowledge and skills.

“Rendez-vous aux jardins on the theme of sight”

After the theme “The five senses in the garden” in 2024, the Ministry of Culture has chosen to explore this theme with each of the five senses. Thus, the theme selected for this 23rd edition is “The five senses in the garden: sight.”

Through this sensory perspective, visitors will be invited to look anew at the landscapes, perspectives, colors, and plant compositions that shape the gardens.

“A major European event”

Since 2018, the “Rendez-vous aux jardins” have taken on a European dimension and now radiate beyond French borders to celebrate the beauty and diversity of European gardens.

In 2025, over 650 gardens in 22 European countries opened their doors on the same dates and with a visual and theme identical to those chosen by the Ministry of Culture. Among the countries involved for several years are Germany, Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and more recently in 2025 Austria and Finland.

The national event benefits greatly from the essential support of numerous institutional partners and media outlets that highlight a collective momentum in the service of celebrating the art of gardens and heritage.
