Before the decision by the LFP, which will be made on Thursday regarding the possible postponement of Lens-PSG, the sports advisor of the capital club, Luis Campos, explained in the show “Rothen s’enflamme”.

PSG wants to postpone the clash against Lens, scheduled for June 11 at Bollaert-Delelis, between the two Champions League quarter-finals against Liverpool. The capital club has asked the League to postpone this match and the board of directors will decide on Thursday regarding this delicate matter (and also regarding the Brest-Strasbourg match, which the Alsatian club wants to postpone before their Europa Conference League quarter-final against Mainz).

“We only want to represent France well, which needs to have a good representation”

On the eve of the League’s decision, Luis Campos faced the heat, answering questions on the show “Rothen s’enflamme” on RMC Sport. And the PSG sports advisor clarified the reason for this postponement request: “At first, we would have liked to play the Champions League on Tuesday, then Wednesday. But since Liverpool cannot play on April 15 (date of the Hillsborough disaster), we respected Liverpool’s history because it is a tragic date for the club. Our idea has always been to defend not only PSG but also French football in the current context for the fifth position,” explained the leader at first.

Regarding this Lens-PSG match, Luis Campos continued: “PSG’s position is clear and arises from a deep reflection on the advantages and disadvantages of this postponement, both for PSG and French football. We believe that France can be better represented in Europe, with Strasbourg as well, thanks to this postponement to earn points (in the UEFA coefficient) and maintain the 5th place.”

Campos, who assured that the position of RC Lens (one point behind PSG with one more match) was not taken into account in PSG’s reflection, concluded: “We have nothing against Lens, they are good friends. If it had been another opponent, we would have done the same thing. We only want to represent France well, which needs to have a good representation.”
