The concept of the show consists of a singing competition where the candidates are evaluated solely on their voice, without the jurors seeing their physical appearance.
The program is presented by Nikos Aliagas and includes four jurors, called coaches, who are established artists on the French music scene. Coaches are responsible for choosing the candidates they wish to train to bring them as far as possible in the competition.
During the different stages of the show, the candidates are subjected to tests such as blind auditions, battles and ultimate tests. During blind auditions, coaches sit in swivel chairs and listen to the candidates sing without seeing them. If they are convinced by the candidate’s voice, they can press a button to turn around and see the candidate’s appearance.
During the battles, two candidates compete on the same song and the coach must choose which of the two to continue in the competition. During the final tests, each coach must choose the candidates he wishes to send live.
The show has enjoyed great success in France since its creation, with significant audiences and candidates who have become famous like Kendji Girac or Louane. The Voice is now broadcast in many countries around the world, with local adaptations tailored to each market.
