At the geek culture workshop, four young enthusiasts – Arthur, Philippe, Orane, and Olivia, gathered at the Romain-Rolland media library on Saturday, March 28. They discussed geek culture terms with the guidance of Maxime, the digital animator. The participants explored the world of games and geek culture through various activities.

Maxime started by explaining what it means to be a geek, the origin of the term, and what it entails in today’s popular culture. The term “geek” now refers to a passion for books, video games, comics, and the internet, which have gained significant popularity.

The participants tested their knowledge of video games through a quiz where each correct answer earned them a point. They learned about various gaming terms like triple-A games, casual gamers, avatars, gameplay, freezes, and e-sports on gaming consoles. These terms are essential for geek players and gaming enthusiasts. They also explored the popular game Minecraft.

The next Geek culture workshop is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at 9:30 am at the media library, in collaboration with the Mangawa club.
