Tea time. It’s 4:00 pm in Paris and I am invited to have tea at Chloé Caillet’s house. Well, at her mother’s house rather. Between sets on the other side of the world, the iconic DJ from New York resides on the island of Ibiza, her sanctuary where she relaxes and creates, away from the BPM. But as spring slowly blooms, the island is preparing to welcome party-goers and enthusiasts once again. “The beginning of the season is an ideal time to discover the energy of Ibiza,” say Chloé and her creative director partner, Carla Molina. So, seated on an elegant and comfortable sofa, facing me, with the ground between us, our conversation begins over a Japanese tea served in a charming cast iron teapot (an ideal moment for a tea enthusiast like myself). From raves in Bristol to Circo Loco, to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, a tour of the clubbing and electronic scene with the cheerful cool girl Chloé Caillet.

Vogue: Hello Chloé, how are you? Chloé Caillet: I’m good! I just did 4 sets in one weekend, so I’m a bit tired, but it was great. I started on Friday in Manchester, at an iconic club called The White Hotel. It’s a very small place, 300 people, an old garage turned into a club. It’s open until 9 am, very 80’s-90’s atmosphere, the people are loving it. The next day, I was at Time Warp in Mannheim: big venue, huge sound system, completely different. And on Sunday, off to Egypt to play with No Art, then the afterparty on Monday morning. I got back to Paris last night.

And between dates, you were in Los Angeles for the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. Yes! My friend Marc Guiducci invited me. We’ve known each other for a long time and it was his first edition. He wanted someone he could trust completely. The red carpet was probably one of the most intense I’ve been on. Everyone was there. I found myself between Mary J. Blige, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber… it was pretty unreal.

Who impressed you the most? Jane Fonda, without a doubt. And Nicole Kidman too. They are absolute icons, figures I’ve seen since I was little. I also had a funny moment with Adrien Brody, who said to me: “We’ve met before, right?” Yes, well, no. I’m still not sure if that’s true (laughs).

What were you wearing that night? A Saint Laurent tuxedo.

Speaking of which, how would you describe your relationship with fashion? I’ve always been very attached to Saint Laurent, for its chic French style, very structured. Whenever I need to dress up for an occasion, it’s a natural reference. But in everyday life, my style is rather androgynous. I mostly wear men’s clothes, often found in thrift stores. I travel a lot, so I find pieces everywhere that I adapt to my style. Comfort is essential for me, especially on stage. Our bodies are already under a lot of strain, so we need to feel comfortable in what we wear.
