In all of Corsica – The Catenacciu, an essential part of Easter weekend

Every year, on Good Friday, many Corsican towns experience a strong tradition – the Catenacciu procession, a reenactment of Christ’s ascent to Golgotha. The most famous is undoubtedly in Sartène, where an anonymous penitent drags a heavy chain at his feet and carries a 33kg wooden cross. The most impressive? The Incatinatu procession in Bisinchi, with a representation of the Passion and a penitent being crucified. As for the oldest, it is said to be in Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano. Rediscover this on April 3, around 9 pm.

And also in San Gavinu di Fium’Orbu, Zalana, Oletta, and even Corte…
