Seventh in Regional 1, La Maladrerie has nothing to fear or hope for in the coming weeks. The Caen club’s first team can only hope to break into the top 5 with a perfect finish. This won’t be easy considering they will face Granville at home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, travel to Rouen on Saturday, May 23, and then host Pacy-Ménilles a week later to wrap up the season. The Maladiens’ position in the middle of the table, with eight wins, five draws, and six defeats, at least allows them to calmly prepare for the future.

Thus, MOS wasted no time in announcing the extension of David Caillard’s contract. The coach, who always emphasizes how he relates to his team, will start his third season in that role. He took over from Vincent Laigneau in November 2024, initially as an interim, and a month later, the club’s management officially appointed him. “It stays on course,” confirmed club president Thierry Deslandes. “We are happy because David manages his group well. There are results considering our resources. He has succeeded in building something with this group.”

“Stability expected at all levels,” recognizes Thierry Deslandes, referring to a “slight downturn” in a “difficult winter.” But the “good start to the championship” is not forgotten, nor is the current good form. David Caillard is “totally in tune with his players, mainly trained at the club.”

“He wanted to continue, and we had no reason to change. There was a convergence. The players also wanted it to continue,” said Thierry Deslandes, president of MOS.

What are the prospects? “We have a fairly young team, we would like continuity, and if possible try to recruit two or three players. I hope we keep everyone. Will we be able to do it? We’ll see. It’s still a little early. A lot will happen before July 15,” Deslandes added. Maladrerie expresses its desire to “play a more ambitious role in an increasingly competitive championship,” relying on “the experience gained this season.”
