Samson: A Tyndalston Story is released today. It is the first game from the studio Liquid Swords, but the head of the studio is not a stranger as Christofer Sundberg was very active in the Just Cause games. The game finally arrived despite the studio having to lay off employees, backed by its parent company NetEase, a powerful Chinese company that would like to rival Tencent. Anyway, here comes Samson. The story is quite simple, it’s a GTA-Like game where you play as a guy drowning in debt, who decides to pay it off by using his fists to save his sister from the local crime boss. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5.
It’s violent, all hits are allowed, and the movements are well studied to make the hand-to-hand combat even more cinematic, with exaggerated movements. Those who practice or have practiced boxing will enjoy the amplified movements to create visual violence. Anyway, if you’re interested, you can already watch the first 20 minutes of gameplay, which are rarely the most intense, and introduce the characters in their new environment. Did that convince you?
