The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbihas praised President Ahmed Tinubu ball for his sweeping economic reforms while suggesting that Nigerians may seek a constitutional review to allow him remain in office beyond two terms.
In a statement marking Tinubu’s 74th birthday, the monarch said the President’s policies had laid a strong foundation for economic recovery and national growth, citing gains in foreign reserves, exchange rate unification, and increased oil production.
Oluwo noted that the administration’s reform agenda had also translated into improved allocations to state governments, progress on local government autonomy, expansion of road infrastructure, and wider distribution of palliatives at the grassroots.
He described the reforms as bold but necessary, stressing that previous administrations had been unable to implement similar measures due to public and political resistance.
According to him, Tinubu’s willingness to take and stand by difficult decisions has set him apart as a decisive leader capable of repositioning the country’s economy.
The monarch, however, stirred debate by suggesting that the impact of the President’s reforms could prompt calls for an extension of his tenure beyond the constitutionally permitted two terms.
He said many Nigerians might seek a review of the constitutional provisions to allow Tinubu to continue leading the country, given what he described as the transformative nature of his policies.
Oluwo added that while the reforms were still unfolding, early indicators showed improvements in economic stability and national outlook, expressing confidence that the next phase would consolidate these gains.
He called on Nigerians to support the administration’s policies, noting that nation-building requires collective sacrifice and sustained commitment.
The traditional ruler also prayed for the President’s health, strength, and wisdom to continue steering the country towards prosperity.
