At halftime, Lens managed to salvage a 3-3 draw against Brest on Friday night in the opening match of the 31st round of Ligue 1, giving PSG the opportunity to take a six-point lead on Saturday. Similar to their game against Toulouse last weekend, Lens had a rocky start by conceding the opening goal by Guindo in the 7th minute, before Lucas Tousart (25th) and Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe (42nd) extended the lead.
However, goals from Florian Thauvin (60th), Abdallah Sima (64th), and Allan Saint-Maximin (90th +4) in the second half allowed Lens to secure a point. Despite the draw, the former Saint-Etienne player was not pleased with the performance.
“We lost collectively. Even though we salvaged a draw, it’s not enough. We’ve done everything, had a very good season, and find ourselves in this situation. We have the cards in hand… In the end, we’ve put ourselves in a tricky situation,” regretted Allan Saint-Maximin, who scored earlier in the week during the victory over Toulouse in the Coupe de France semi-final (4-1).
Lens may have some regrets as in addition to the three goals conceded against Brest, they also hit the woodwork four times. Frustrating.
