The Blind Spot of Krafton

Announced at the beginning of this year, PUBG: Blindspot kicked off its early access last month. It was a top-down PvP shooter with teams of 5 people. A more tactical approach for the franchise, drawing inspiration more or less from Rainbow Six Siege, which, however, did not manage to achieve even a quarter of the success of the latter. On Steam, the game only reached a peak of 3,251 simultaneous players, and the numbers quickly dropped despite fairly decent reviews.

All of this was not enough for Krafton, who has decided to pull the plug on PUBG: Blindspot as soon as today, not allowing it to finish its early access. Sequoia Yang, who is part of the project team, states:

Since our last update, the team has explored many avenues to improve the gaming experience and evolve the game. However, after careful consideration, we have concluded that we are unable to maintain the desired level of quality for the early access. Player experience is at the core of each of our decisions, and it is on this principle that we made this decision.

The title will therefore have only a few weeks to prove itself in early access before being canceled. Another proof of the very uncertain market that the games service sector represents, where even a big name like PUBG struggles to gather players.
