A major setback for Krafton and the PUBG universe. For some time now, the Korean studio has been trying to expand its universe beyond the popular FPS game by releasing titles set in the same world. For example, last year the studio announced the upcoming release of the tactical game PUBG: Blindspot, but unfortunately, we now learn of the game’s closure.

At first glance, fans will recognize strong similarities and inspiration from games like Rainbow Six Siege or Counter Strike. However, this 5vs5 shooter is top-down instead of first-person. While Krafton aimed to make its title as iconic as those mentioned before, the game launched last month on Steam with only about 3,250 players at its peak. Subsequently, the results quickly deteriorated.

Seeing the lack of player interest, Krafton decided to cut its losses and shut down the servers, ending the early access sooner than expected. A team member later commented: “Since our last update, the team has explored various avenues to improve the gaming experience and evolve the game. However, after careful consideration, we have concluded that we are not able to maintain the desired level of quality for early access. The player experience is at the heart of each of our decisions, and it is on this principle that we made this decision.”
