Despite its tactical promises, PUBG: Blindspot, the experimental top-down shooter from Krafton and ARC Team, has officially paid its respects after announcing the closure of servers on March 30, 2026.
On March 30, 2026, PUBG: Blindspot servers will permanently shut down. Launched in Early Access only 53 days earlier, on February 5, the abrupt halt of this tactical shooter starkly highlights the volatility of the current games-as-a-service market.
In announcing the news on the Steam community page, Sequoia Yang from ARC Team thanked fans for their support, while admitting that the studio had not been able to find a viable solution to advance the title.
The decision to limit damage was suggested as Krafton and ARC Team saw no path to profitability or solution to matchmaking issues caused by the low population. Rather than letting the game linger, they opted for a clean break, albeit brutal.
PUBG: Blindspot was a fascinating pivot for the franchise, trading classic third-person survival for a top-down 5v5 tactical perspective. Despite generally positive Steam reviews, the praise did not translate into active users.
This failure does not mean the end of the PUBG universe. Krafton still has big plans for the franchise with upcoming projects like Project Black Budget, a highly anticipated extraction shooter. For now, Blindspot will remain as a bold attempt that failed to find its place in a ruthless industry.
