Important Facts about the Situation of the American Pilot in Iran

  • Invited by LCI on Saturday, April 4th, General Jean-Michel Château was questioned about the situation of the American pilot currently being sought on Iranian soil.
  • Former head of COS (Special Operations Command), the specialist in this type of mission believed that an extraction should be carried out at night.
  • According to the military, the pilot only has enough supplies to survive for “48 to 72 hours.”

How to extract, if he has survived, the American pilot currently being sought on Iranian soil? While a possible rescue mission is the focus of attention, General Jean-Michel Château, an expert in this type of operation, has analyzed the situation on LCI on Saturday, April 4th.

First assessment for the former commander of COS (Special Operations Command): “We are still on time, but it becomes very worrying, especially since, to start an extraction operation like this one, we need to know very precisely where he is. And I don’t know if the Americans have this position.”

Furthermore, if the pilot is located, “for this operation to succeed, it is imperative to carry it out at night,” insists Jean-Michel Château. “In broad daylight, with all the people walking around the device, it’s much too dangerous.”

“He Can Last a Maximum of 48 to 72 Hours”

A mission to be carried out urgently, as indicated by General Jean-Michel Château, the pilot “doesn’t have much on him” to survive. “He’s not equipped to last because he doesn’t have shoes to walk properly. He has his pilot’s shoes. On him, he may have a handgun. He can last a maximum of 48 to 72 hours because he has very little water and food.”

“To carry out an operation like this one,” concludes the military, “once we have clearly located where he is, it’s a landing, ideally by helicopter. I think we have the possibility because the American bases are not very far away. So, we land commandos by helicopter who will recover the individual and bring him back.” A mission that involves “about ten men, maximum.”
