Vueling Airlines Launches Free Entertainment Service Onboard

Vueling, a subsidiary of the IAG group, takes a step forward in its digital strategy by introducing a completely free onboard entertainment service. Unveiled in Paris on March 18, 2026, this portal is accessible directly from passengers’ personal devices (smartphones, tablets, computers) throughout the journey.

A Rich and Autonomous Platform

Unlike services requiring paid Wi-Fi connection, this platform operates through a direct connection to the onboard server of the aircraft. This system allows passengers to enjoy content without needing an external internet connection. Deployed on over half of the fleet, the service includes:

– Cinema and Series: A regularly updated catalog currently featuring 18 films for all audiences and 23 episodes from 12 TV series. – Flight Tracking: An interactive 3D map for real-time itinerary visualization. – Services and Catering: Digital access to the onboard menu, shop, and company network information.

Connectivity and Destination Services

To enhance this offer, Vueling has partnered with Viasat to offer 15 minutes of free internet access onboard a large part of its fleet through the European Aviation Network. The experience also continues after landing with direct integration with GetYourGuide, allowing travelers to book excursions and activities directly from the inflight portal.

Melanie Berry, Vueling’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasizes that this initiative aims to provide “more opportunities to enjoy the time spent onboard” through a simple and accessible interface.

Mister Travel News Expert View (PRO Focus)

The editorial analysis notes that this launch confirms a shift from the traditional Low-Cost model to a hybrid model with added services. By offering free entertainment, Vueling aims to retain a leisure-oriented clientele increasingly demanding in digital comfort. The strategic aspect for industry professionals lies not only in the complimentary entertainment but in the integration of GetYourGuide. By capturing passenger attention during the flight, Vueling optimizes its ancillary revenues while positioning itself as a major business contributor for destination activities. With a historic digital DNA and over 225,000 flights operated in 2025, the company demonstrates that onboard innovation has become a crucial profitability lever as important as ticket prices.
