Conceived as a tribute to African American music, against a backdrop of historical, social, and political significance, the show Black Legends will be showcased at the Zénith in Dijon on April 26th.
36 scenes, 30 artists, and six live musicians
The creator and director, Valéry Rodriguez, shared with Le Progrès in March the genesis of this creation: “I fell in love with gospel music as a child. I heard a gospel song that deeply moved me, touched my soul. Years later, in London, I found that energy again in a show. It was a tribute, with only hits performed by African-American artists. And I thought: it’s a shame that this doesn’t exist in France.”
The show consists of 36 scenes, with thirty artists on stage, including six live musicians and over 400 costumes. Audiences will enjoy songs from Beyoncé, Tina Turner, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Prince, Michael Jackson, and more.
Disco balls, bell-bottom pants, neon knees, and colorful shirts: for two hours, the audience will be captivated by the sounds of a century of African-American history and music, filled with joy, struggles, parties, and groove.
Catch the show on Sunday, April 26th, at 5 pm, at the Zénith in Dijon. Tickets range from 54 to 86 euros. For more information and reservations, visit ngproduction.fr.
