If Toulouse is now leading the way, the battle for 2nd place is fierce in Second League with four teams separated by just two points after J17.
The Violettes did not win this week but they maintained their eleven-point lead at the top of the standings and, with five matchdays to go, it’s hard to see how they could be caught.
The suspense, however, remains strong for the 2nd place. With Auxerre and Lille neutralizing each other, Le Mans caught up with Grenoble at the last minute. Saint-Malo made a good move by defeating Metz thanks to goals from Abigail Charpentier and Thelma Eninger. The Malouines are now just one point behind AJA, the current second-place team. Fifth-placed Lille is only two points away from this second spot, which means promotion.
At the bottom of the table, Guingamp is almost mathematically condemned. For now, it’s Metz who is in the hot seat as Reims, Nice, and Rodez earned a valuable point. Thonon took a big step towards safety by dominating EAG.
