Edo Terglav (Grenoble coach): “We lacked discipline again. We gave them a powerplay right away. We had a few chances, but we couldn’t score. Every opportunity seemed to go their way. It’s a shame. When you give five, six penalties to teams with a lot of talent, you give them the opportunity to score. They found their momentum and gained confidence. Now, it’s the final with this game 7. These are emotions that need to be managed so we don’t get caught up in penalties.”
Antoine Fertin (Grenoble defenseman): “We knew Angers was in survival mode for this game and that they would come out strong. That’s what happened. We couldn’t start as strong as them and we missed that in the first five minutes. Both teams played better offensively and worse defensively, we need to improve in that area for game 7 to better protect our goalie and maintain a good offensive dynamic. Tonight, we lost, that’s how it goes. Everything will be decided in the next game.”
Olivier Archambault (Angers forward): “We had good scoring chances in the series, but it wasn’t going in. We were more opportunistic tonight. Grenoble played a good game and we presented ourselves well. We are tough to beat at home and so are they. We will have to give our all for game 7. In the playoffs, fatigue needs to be put aside. We didn’t discuss it much among ourselves, about the fact that we could be eliminated tonight, we weren’t stressed. Playing in game 7 is surely more intense. When you’re not good in the playoffs, it doesn’t matter if you had a good season. We have nothing to lose against Grenoble. Anything can happen in this game 7.”
Jonathan Paredes (Angers coach): “In tight series, there is often a game with more goals. That was tonight. The power plays counted with three goals from each side. We need to see what we can improve. We need to do things differently. We won many more battles than Grenoble in game 5. It was the first time we had such great support from the crowd.”
