Frankfurt – Eintracht Frankfurt is mourning a longtime supporter! During the Bundesliga match between the Hessen and 1. FC Köln (2:2) on Easter Sunday in the middle of the second half, the stadium suddenly fell silent. The reason: an Eintracht fan had to be medically treated in the lower tier of the opposing stand. Resuscitation attempts were made at his seat. It quickly became apparent how serious the situation was. All surrounding rows were cleared to ensure the person received the best possible help. However, on Tuesday morning, the club received the sad news: the 87-year-old season ticket holder passed away from a heart attack.

The club stated in its announcement: “Eintracht Frankfurt has to announce with great sadness that the spectator who had to be treated by the medical staff during the match against 1. FC Köln on Easter Sunday in the second half passed away in the hospital on Sunday.”

The resuscitation efforts made during the game initially appeared to be successful. Unfortunately, the longtime Eintracht member could not be stabilized further and passed away from the effects of the heart attack.

Eintracht wrote: “When a person is taken from our midst before our eyes, it is hardly possible to put into words. The Eintracht family is deeply saddened. Our thoughts and condolences are with the affected relatives and friends. Our thanks go to the rescue teams who fought valiantly for the life of our supporter, but ultimately in vain, and to all the fans and visitors for their sensitive support during the efforts.”

When the seriousness of the situation became clear, both sets of fans immediately stopped their support. Only after the person was taken away did they resume their support – also in memory of the fan.
