Find all the information you need about the 2024 edition of the Paris Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, April 12.

What program and what route? This year, there will be over 60,000 registered participants for the 49th edition of the Paris Marathon on Sunday, April 12, starting from 8 am gradually until noon (in waves, based on levels). As tradition dictates, the 42,195 kilometers of the city will offer participants a luxurious route starting from the Champs-Elysées and finishing at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, but via another branch of the Etoile, namely Avenue Foch after exiting the Bois de Boulogne. The route will pass through Place de la Concorde, Place Vendôme, the Opera, the Louvre, Notre-Dame, the Bastille, the Musée d’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais, the Auteuil Hippodrome, and the Bois de Vincennes.

Who are the favorites? The 2026 lineup looks to be one of the most competitive in the history of the Paris Marathon. In the men’s category, all eyes will be on Ethiopian Kinde Atanaw, 32, with the best personal record starting at 2h03’51” (in Valencia in 2019), and Kenyan Hillary Kipkoech. In the women’s category, Kenyan Magdalyne Masai, a compatriot of the latter, is widely expected to be the favorite. Another Kenyan, Sharon Chelimo, could be her top contender.

What practical information? Bib numbers can be collected at the Porte de Versailles, in Hall 1 of the Parc des Expositions, over the three days before the race (Thursday to Saturday). There will be baggage drop-off points near the finish line for personal effects, and participants can follow the pacemakers who will carry large feathers in the colors of each wave if needed. Traffic will be affected, with early openings at 1:30 pm for Concorde and Rue de Rivoli, 3 pm for Champs-Elysées, and 7:30 pm for Avenue Foch. Finally, RATP has established a 42 km metro line that covers the entire marathon, either for tourists or supporters.

Which broadcaster? The 49th edition of the Paris Marathon can be watched live on France 3 and Eurosport starting at 7:50 am.
