On a local corner, the Bordelais developed a quick counterattack to the right, with Rocrou serving Rizaldos all alone at six meters for the opening goal (0-1, 27th). The Boëns were touched but not sunk, as shown by Alexandre Martin-Cantero, who juggled to eliminate his opponent at the edge of the area and followed up with a well-caught half-volley by Lecroart (32nd).

The arrival of the Girondins attracted people to Roger Garnung Stadium.

The best opportunity was for Medeghri, who quickly moved behind the defense from a throw-in to face the Bordeaux goalkeeper. He slid the ball under his belly but the post rejected his attempt (35th). On a free kick from Martin-Cantero inside the box, Goudiaby controlled a shot that went over (38th). The first half ended with a Bordeaux corner headed by Besse and saved on the line by the Boëns (40th).

In the second half, as time passed, the locals took more risks to try to equalize. The imbalance offered the clearest opportunities to the visitors, but Rocrou was thwarted by Klein (75th), and Pottier’s shot hit the outside of the post (80th). The latter lost a one-on-one with the Boën goalkeeper (90th) which could have cost them the victory, Martin-Cantero having the equalizing chance in stoppage time. But Lecroart, attentive, deflected it for a corner, sealing another defeat for the Bassin players.

The toss between the two captains.

Coach Alain Forgit was once again disappointed with the outcome of the match. “It’s hard to blame the players, who played a very good game,” he said. “We showed up, but like this catastrophic season, we lacked that little something to earn points. We play well, we create chances, but there’s always a post or something stopping us from scoring. We could equalize in stoppage time but it didn’t go in. Our relegation is looming, and with what we’ve shown so far, I don’t think we deserve it.”
