The Israeli army said on Thursday that it had intercepted four missile salvos from Iran, two of which came after a speech by US President Donald Trump promising to strike Iran hard for another “two to three” weeks.

After the first attack overnight, the police reported being called to “several” sites hit in central Israel, with media outlets citing nine sites.

According to the media, four people were slightly injured, as reported by rescuers.

Israeli media reported that the extensive damage observed in a particular area was the result of the use of fragmentation ammunition that explodes in flight, dispersing sub-munitions.

Iran and Israel accuse each other of using fragmentation bombs.

Less than six hours after reporting the first attack, the Israeli army again – for the fourth time – said it had “identified missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel.” “Defense systems are in action to intercept the threat,” it wrote on Telegram.

In a short message published shortly after, Israeli authorities allowed residents to “leave the shelters throughout the country,” as stated by the army on Telegram.

No immediate toll has been released regarding possible victims or damage from the latest attacks.

In northern Israel, alert sirens also sounded on Thursday morning to warn of attacks from Lebanon.

In various statements, the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement, which dragged Lebanon into the war in the Middle East at the beginning of March, claimed to have targeted Israeli positions in border areas with rockets and to have attacked an Israeli village with drones.

No victims or damage have been reported by Israeli authorities.
