Russia persists and signs: it remains ready to welcome Iranian enriched uranium on its soil as part of a potential peace agreement between Washington and Tehran, the Kremlin reiterated on Monday. “This proposal was made by President [Vladimir] Putin during contacts with the United States as well as with countries in the region,” said the spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, in response to a question from AFP during a daily press briefing. “The offer still stands, but has not been acted upon,” he added.
Western countries, led by the United States, and Israel, the Islamic Republic’s sworn enemy, suspect Iran, which possesses more than 400 kg of highly enriched uranium, of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, which Tehran denies. The United States and Israel began heavily striking Iran on February 28, triggering a regional war.

Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks on several states in the region and by de facto closing the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic passage through which a fifth of the world’s oil supply usually passes.
