As the operation “Epic Fury” strikes Iran since February 28, 2026, the escalation of armed conflicts marks the end of a certain idea of deterrence. From Ukraine to Gaza, from the Caucasus to the Middle East, something has unraveled in the security architecture that has prevented the return of conquest wars since 1945.
