Strengthening coordination and mobilizing resources of Vietnamese communities abroad.
To implement the tasks planned for 2026, a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Vice Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, visited Ho Chi Minh City and worked there on April 10 and 11, 2026.
The delegation worked with Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, on the directions to be taken regarding the situation of Vietnamese people abroad in the upcoming period.
Vice Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that the issue of Vietnamese people abroad is a priority of foreign policy, a shared responsibility of the entire political system, and is being carried out under favorable conditions. This is due to the attention and guidance of the Party and the State, an increasingly efficient political system, and the growing attachment of more than 6.5 million Vietnamese people abroad to their homeland.
The Vice Minister praised the achievements in connecting and attracting resources from Vietnamese people abroad to Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the fields of economy, investment, fund transfers, science and technology, and innovation. He also highlighted that expanding development perspectives through administrative restructuring will enhance the city’s attractiveness for Vietnamese people abroad, contributing to the development of Ho Chi Minh City and the country, and achieving the goals set by the Party’s 14th Congress.
Promote the role of Vietnamese people abroad in the development of the city.
Based on the cooperation results, the two parties agreed to continue strengthening the exchange of information, improving mechanisms and policies, and diversify the means of attracting entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and Vietnamese scientists abroad, especially the young generation.
During this working visit, the delegation met with representatives of various ministries and agencies, as well as experts and Vietnamese intellectuals abroad, at the Center of Ho Chi Minh City for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).
Vietnamese delegates abroad expressed their desire to contribute more to the development of the city and the country, proposing improvements to mechanisms and policies related to intellectual property, ecological transition, human resource attraction, and immigration and residence procedure reform.
President Nguyen Trung Kien acknowledged these opinions and stated that he would recommend competent authorities to review and address these issues.
