Pedro Pascal goes to war against Pedro Pascal

Actor Pedro Pascal is fighting in court to reclaim his name from a Chilean spirits brand.

No! Contrary to what it may seem, Pedro Pascal is not the only actor to launch his own alcohol brand: he has no connection to the “Pedro Piscal” pisco.

The actor is the latest celebrity to take legal action against a nearly identical brand: Pedro Piscal, a Chilean pisco merchant who chose a rather provocative name for his brand.

This story does not reveal whether Pedro Pascal, the beloved “daddy” of Hollywood, is a big fan of pisco sour, the iconic drink of his home country. However, like other stars before him, the actor has entered into a legal battle against a famous alcohol manufacturer.

According to David Herrera, head of the Pedro Piscal brand, as reported by The Guardian, he registered the brand with a Chilean commercial regulation body in 2023 before selling his pisco in retail stores and restaurants.

“We tried several names and Pedro Piscal finally fit. We were preparing a trip to the Pisco region when suddenly we received threatening emails from lawyers,” he explained.

“It turns out that Pedro Pascal, the actor, has filed a request to regain control due to the similarity with his own name and brand,” it was reported.

David Herrera, claiming no regrets, argues that the name Pedro comes from Pedro Ximénez grapes, from which this alcohol is distilled. It remains to be seen whether this argument will hold up in court, which is expected to make a decision before the end of the year.

In 2020, DC Comics targeted a bakery in Santiago called “Superpan” for thirty years and using images of Clark Kent and his famous “S” symbol. The bakery won the case.

Recently, in March 2026, Australian fashion designer Katie Perry won a 17-year legal battle against American pop star Katy Perry in the High Court of Australia. The court ruled that the designer could continue to operate under her own name.
