According to the correspondent of the Vietnamese press agency in Beijing, on April 17, the “People’s Daily” – the official organ of the Chinese Communist Party – published an editorial entitled “Advancing the construction of a Sino-Vietnamese community of shared future on the path of rapid development,” affirming that, regardless of international developments, China always considers Vietnam a priority in its foreign neighborhood policy.

The article stated that on April 15, Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam during his state visit to China.

The two parties conducted lengthy and in-depth exchanges on strategic and overarching issues of common concern, resulting in many important consensuses. The strategic leadership of the top leaders of both parties and countries has propelled the construction of the Sino-Vietnamese community of shared future on the path of rapid development.

China and Vietnam are friendly socialist neighbors and a community of strategic importance sharing a common destiny. In recent years, the highest leaders of both parties and both countries have held numerous face-to-face meetings, fully demonstrating the deep friendship between China and Vietnam, considered as “fraternal comrades.”

The leadership of the Communist Party is the essential characteristic and greatest asset of socialism. Safeguarding the socialist system and the dominant position of the Communist Party is the common strategic priority of both parties.

The article argues that young people are an essential force for the origin of development and social progress, and they are also heirs to the cause for both parties and countries.

During this visit, Secretary-General and President Xi Jinping and Secretary-General and President To Lam met with young Chinese and Vietnamese participants in the “Red Journey for Research and Studies” program.

This agreement reflects the utmost importance both countries place on passing down knowledge to young generations, aiming to mobilize youth in service of the socialist cause and to benefit a strategically important Sino-Vietnamese community of shared future. China and Vietnam are working together for modernization, for the greater benefit of their respective populations.

During his visit, Secretary-General and President To Lam traveled by high-speed train, allowing him to directly observe China’s dynamic development of high quality.

For more than 20 consecutive years, China has been Vietnam’s largest trading partner, while Vietnam is China’s largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the fourth largest globally.

The two parties have deep and close economic and trade relations, sharing many common interests.

In a rapidly changing world, cooperation between the two countries to build a community of shared future is of paramount importance for maintaining peace and development at regional and global levels.

Recently, protectionism has been on the rise and economic globalization has faced many challenges, negatively impacting the development of all countries.

In this context, China and Vietnam have jointly opted for open cooperation, jointly opposed unilateralism and protectionism, and committed to maintaining the global free trade system as well as the stability and proper functioning of supply chains and industries, which will help create a more favorable international environment for the development of each party.

The article concludes that regardless of international developments, China will always give priority to Vietnam in its neighborhood foreign policy. China is determined to maintain its initial aspirations and friendship with Vietnam, working together, in a spirit of solidarity and mutual support, to promote high-quality comprehensive strategic cooperation, in accordance with the six prioritized objectives, and to accelerate the construction of a Sino-Vietnamese community of shared future, which holds major strategic importance.
