Reims snatched a crucial 3-2 victory against Red Star in a breathless finale, while Troyes secured the essentials with a 1-0 win over Boulogne on Saturday in the 31st round of Ligue 2.

In the race for the top of the table, Reims and Troyes both accomplished their missions, but with different scenarios. At home, the Reims experienced an overturned match against a direct competitor, Red Star. Quickly in control, Karel Geraerts’ men took the lead through Keito Nakamura (7th), before doubling their lead with Sergio Akieme (24th). A first half dominated by the Champenois, who imposed their rhythm and technical superiority. But the second half had a completely different dynamic. More aggressive, Red Star regained hope with Jovany Ikanga reducing the deficit (65th). Reims then retreated, enduring attacks, leading to a completely crazy ending. Ange Tia thought he had sealed the game in injury time (90+3), but Abdelsamad Hachem immediately revived the suspense (90+6). Ultimately, Reims held on to win 3-2 and close the gap with their opponents in the standings.

At the same time, Troyes did the job against Boulogne, in a more closed but overall controlled match. Dominant from the start, the Champenois lacked efficiency in the first half, facing a disciplined defense from the north. It wasn’t until the second half that the difference was made. Tawfik Bentayeb scored the only goal of the match in the 46th minute. Enough to allow ESTAC to manage their advantage against a Boulogne team too limited offensively to hope for a comeback. With these results, Reims fully re-enters the promotion race, while Troyes continues their positive streak at the top. Two precious victories at this stage of the season, where every point can be crucial in the final sprint.
